Required Clearances

Children’s Hospital requires all applicants to sign a release form to process references. That process will verify all previous employment and education as well as secure references.

As a pediatric facility we also require a more complex process which includes obtaining Act 33/34 and Act 73 clearances. Those offered a position at Children’s are required to obtain the following clearances:

Pennsylvania Act 33 require that prospective employees of agencies serving children (Act 33) present evidence to a potential employer or internship site of any criminal record with the State Police, or a statement from the State Police that such a record does not exist. Out-of-State residents must, in addition, present evidence of an FBI background check.

In 2007, Act 73 was passed to bring Pennsylvania into compliance with the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act. The federal legislation requires that any hospital hires, on or after July, 1 2008, must complete a fingerprint-based federal criminal record check through.
