Appointments
Monday - Thursday: 8:15 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.
Friday: 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday morning appointments are available for sick visits only.
Evening hours are for well child check-ups only.
About Your Appointments
Regular periodic check-ups are scheduled
during the first two years of life to discuss your child's growth,
development, sleeping and eating habits, toilet training and other
concerns. After age two, regular check-ups are recommended to assess
your child's growth and physical and mental development and to address
school and other concerns. Immunizations, hearing tests and vision
screening are also completed.
Please call our office on weekdays after 10:30 a.m. to schedule
routine appointments or for non-emergency questions. We reserve
the mornings to answer emergency calls and to schedule appointments
for children who have been sick overnight. Also, please do not call
on Saturday mornings or after hours to schedule routine appointments
or for routine advice, as this time is also reserved for emergencies
and sick patients. After 10:30 a.m. on weekdays, our staff is available
to answer your questions.
If your child is ill and you believe that he or she should be examined,
please call the office after 8:30 a.m. to speak with a nurse. The
nurse will determine whether your child should be examined and will
schedule an appointment. Each physician's schedule is developed
to allow for well visits and sick visits.
If your child is scheduled for a visit and you would also like another
child to be seen at that time, please call in advance to determine
if we can accommodate your request.
If you feel additional time will be needed to discuss behavioral,
emotional or school problems in detail, please ask to schedule a
consultation appointment.
In some cases, the doctor may recommend a re-check visit. The time
allotted for a re-check varies from a routine visit, so if you will
need additional time, please call the office in advance.
If you cannot keep your scheduled appointment, please call us to
re-schedule at least 24 hours before the appointment so we can offer
your time slot to another patient.
We strive to be on time for your appointment and encourage you to
arrive on time as well. If you arrive late, you may be asked to
wait or to reschedule your appointment.
After-Hours Care and
Emergency Service
If you cannot take the time to call our
office because your child has a life-threatening emergency, go to
the nearest emergency center. Please notify our office within 24
hours. If your child should have a non-life-threatening emergency
after hours or on a holiday, please call our office at 412-373-1717.
You will hear a recording with instructions on reaching our after-hours
answering service.
Billing and Insurance
Our billing is centralized and handled through
Children's Community Pediatrics' administrative office. If you have
a specific question regarding your bill, please call 1-888-857-7646.
Referrals
If your insurance plan requires a referral for
services outside of our primary care office, please call in advance
and our staff will assist you.
You are responsible for obtaining referrals prior
to seeing any physician other than your child's primary care physician.
Please call us regarding referrals Tuesday through Friday between
10 a.m. and 5 p.m. only.
One-week advance notice is required when requesting a referral to
a specialist. When possible, surgery authorizations require a 10-
to 14-day advance notice.
We are unable to fax a referral to a physician's
office the same day the patient is being seen.
Test Results
We will notify you regarding abnormal
test results only. If you have any questions regarding specific
results, please call us.
Prescriptions and Refills
Routine prescriptions are handled during
regular business hours by utilizing a voice mail system. Please
do not call after hours for a routine prescription or refill.
