You can use your IRA to make a charitable gift this year. The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (H.R. 1424) includes an extension of the IRA Charitable Rollover. Individuals age 70-1/2 and older can transfer up to $100,000 a year to public charities, tax-free. This is in effect for 2008 and 2009.
The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation has announced the public phase of its capital campaign to support construction of the new Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. The new hospital, which opens in May 2009 in Lawrenceville, will set the standard for incomparable pediatric health care as one of the most innovative, family-centered and eco-friendly pediatric hospitals in the world.
“Every donation, large or small, will enable our donors to take pride in having built this new hospital and, in doing so, providing the best possible care for our children,” says Catharine M. Ryan, chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
In addition to supporting the new hospital’s construction costs, The Possibilities Are Growing $100 million campaign supports Children’s Hospital’s mission of patient care, teaching and research with the expansion and creation of clinical programs and services. To date, the Foundation has received commitments of almost $65 million.
“We are very fortunate to have Children’s Hospital, which has provided a vital service to our surrounding community for more than a century,” says Roger A. Oxendale, the Foundation’s president.
With your financial support, you can help the possibilities grow, too — for our children’s care, our research and our region.
