in Johnstown
Children's Specialty Care Center Johnstown opened its doors on Nov. 5, 2007. Now, kids and their families in Bedford, Cambria, Clearfield and Somerset counties have access to the expertise of Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC physicians. Initially, the Specialty Care Center will offer care from Children's Hospital's Heart Center, Division of Child Neurology and Division of Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery. Every week, Children's physicians from these specialties will provide outpatient services, including diagnostic evaluations and follow-up care, to families in and around the Johnstown area.
"Our physicians in these specialties are among the leaders in their fields, and families in central Pennsylvania will now have more convenient access to this type of advanced specialty care," said Roger A. Oxendale, Children's president and CEO. "This center also allows us to respond to the growing need for certain pediatric specialty care in communities like Johnstown and Altoona. Children's is committed to improving access and providing the best care possible to as many families as possible from this region."
In a continued effort to offer patients convenient access to pediatric care, Children's plans to expand the services offered in the future to include diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and weight management.
