Chairman of Foundation Board of Trustees Elected

Howard W. “Hoddy” Hanna III has been elected chairman of the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation Board of Trustees. His term runs through Dec. 31, 2010. Mr. Hanna succeeds Catharine Ryan as chairman.
“Children’s Hospital is a tremendous local, regional, and even national asset that has throughout its history enjoyed unwavering support from the families of this community, and I am proud to be a part of that tradition,” Mr. Hanna says. “I look forward to leading the Foundation’s Board of Trustees as we work to build on that support to further enhance the mission of Children’s Hospital.”
Mr. Hanna’s involvement with Children’s Hospital spans nearly two decades. Over that time, Howard Hanna Real Estate Services has held annual holiday luncheons that have raised millions of dollars in support of the hospital’s Free Care Fund, which ensures that all children from this region receive the best medical care possible, regardless of insurance or a family’s ability to pay.
The new Children’s features the Howard Hanna Healing Garden, an outdoor, rooftop garden where patients and families can be outside and retreat from a stressful hospital situation for fresh air and an incredible view.
Mr. Hanna has been a member of the Foundation Board since its inception in July 2000. He has been a member of the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC Board of Trustees since 1993, on which he serves as vice chair, and is on the hospital board’s Executive Committee. Additionally, Mr. Hanna is a member of the UPMC Board of Directors. He is chairman and chief executive officer of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, the third largest privately held real estate brokerage firm in the country.
