Children’s Again Among America’s Best Children’s Hospitals

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC has again been named one of America’s Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report.

U.S. News ranked the country’s top 30 pediatric hospitals overall, and also ranked the top 30 children’s hospitals in 10 pediatric specialties. Children’s Hospital ranked in the top 30 in nine of the specialty categories: 6 in digestive disorders; 8 in endocrinology; 13 in heart and heart surgery; 20 in neonatal care; 21 in nephrology; 17 in neurology and neurosurgery; 16 in orthopaedics; 7 in respiratory disorders; and 17 in urology.

UPMC Named to U.S. News’ Honor Roll of America’s Best Hospitals

UPMC is the region’s only medical center named on the annual U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll of America’s Best Hospitals. UPMC ranked 13th of only 21 hospitals nationwide that made the Honor Roll of the “nation’s best” in the 2009 survey. Last year, UPMC ranked 14th. UPMC was ranked in 13 of 16 specialty areas, including seven specialties for which UPMC is in the top 10. This year marks UPMC’s 10th appearance on the Honor Roll.

UPMC’s ranked specialties are: 4 in ear, nose and throat; 7 in gynecology; 7 in respiratory disorders; 8 in geriatric care; 8 in psychiatry; 10 in orthopaedics; 10 in rheumatology; 12 in kidney disorders; 14 in rehabilitation; 17 in neurology and neurosurgery; 18 in digestive disorders; 32 in heart and heart surgery; and 41 in cancer.
